How to change part mark units and decimals
Part mark (e.g., length and weight) values have wrong units or decimals.
Here are the steps how I have solved this problem:
1.Find the folder that controls attributes on drawings. By default for TS2019 they are located in C:\Program Files\Tekla Structures\2019.0\nt\bin\TplEd\settings folder, but you can use Windows search to find them in your computer.
Tip! Never change files in Environment folders, because when you install a new Tekla version or Service Pack, it may overwrite all your modifications.
2.In the contentattributes.lst file you can control, where Tekla looks for content attributes. Make sure it has contentattributes_userdefined.lst included.
3.If you want to control any Tekla native attribute, then you can find all the global attributes in contentattributes_global.lst. For example, use Notepad++ software to see inside the file. In this case, I found the following relevant lines/rules:
- CAST_UNIT_LENGTH_ONLY_CONCRETE_PARTS FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
- CAST_UNIT_LENGTH_ONLY_PARTS FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
- CAST_UNIT_LENGTH_TOTAL FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
- LENGTH FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
- LENGTH_NET FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
- LENGTH_GROSS FLOAT RIGHT TRUE 8 0 Length mm
4.Copy contentattributes_userdefined.lst file to your firm folder or (template) model and add there your User Defined Attributes lines or Tekla global attributes that you found in previous step. Here you can modify these attributes default values.
5.If you use User Defined Attributes, then make it sure that these attributes are also included in Objects.inp in (template) model folder.
6.In the result, you will have opportunity to change units and formats/decimals directly from Part Mark Properties and additionally Automatic or default values are taken from contentattributes_userdefined.lst file.
